Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Twin Cities man is facing a federal charge connected to a wild chase in a stolen car back in August.
The US Attorney for Minnesota says 21-year-old Carson McCoy of Blaine is facing a charge of possession of a firearm as a felon. He is currently being held without bail
.
A news release says a home security camera recorded a video of McCoy entering a home in Ham Lake and then speeding away in a stolen BMW. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office indicated a 45 caliber handgun, two loaded ammunition magazines, and $1500 in cash were stolen from the residence.
Court documents indicate the Anoka County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of gunfire in Ham Lake about 30 minutes after the burglary. Several motorcyclists reported that a black BMW nearly collided with them and an occupant of the car fired several shots in their direction from the sunroof of the vehicle.
A short time later, the stolen BMW was located and a deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver managed to get away before crashing into an Anoka County Sheriff's Office squad car and McCoy was arrested. A female passenger in the car was also taken into custody.
