You could not have scripted the results of Owatonna's season opening win at Austin Tuesday any better.

The Huskies rolled to a 19-0 five inning win at Todd Park.

Kennedy Hodgman and Mehsa Krause, juniors combined to throw a no-hitter.  They were an error away from a perfect game.

The error happened against the first Packers hitter of the game.

The two pitchers were not overpowering.  Proof you don't have to be to win convincingly.

Hodgman had 3 strikeouts, Krause no strikeouts.  No walks were awarded.

Hodgman threw 36 pitches in the first three innings, 25 for strikes.  Krause finished her two innings of work with 14 total pitches, 11 for strikes.

Fifty pitches total through five innings is nearly perfect.  Just one batter over the minimum was faced by the two Huskies pitchers. Owatonna scored in all five innings.

Ava Danzer, junior, started for the Packers facing 8 batters in the first inning.  Just one walk was allowed but she did fall behind in some counts.

First batter second baseman, Elizabeth Radel, junior, had a productive day at the plate.  She was on base five times in five trips and scored three runs.

In the first inning Radel set the tone for the Huskies with a 2-0 count single.  She would steal second base.  Go to third on a passed ball and score on a wild pitch.

Following a walk Zoie Roush, third baseman, junior, hammered an RBI triple on a 2-2  count.  Samantha Bogen, first baseman, junior, followed that with an RBI single.

After a strikeout for the second out, catcher Paiton Glynn, senior, jumped on the first pitch for an RBI single giving her team a 4-0 lead.

Owatonna added 3 runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and 9 runs in the fifth inning off Quinn Osgood, 8th grade, and Abigail VanPelt, junior.

Denzer re-entered the game in the final inning to record the final out.

Nineteen hits were clobbered by the Huskies.

The scorebook looked more like a bowling scorecard with filled in diamonds throughout the book.

In the fifth inning 14 batters came to the plate, recorded 7 hits, took advantage of 3 walks and a hit batter.

Roush finished with 4 hits including a triple and 4 RBI.  Samantha Bogen added 4 hits including a double and 3 RBI.

Glynn was 4 for 4 with 3 RBI.  Avery Routh. senior, collected two hits in the #9 spot in the order with an RBI double and scored two runs.
