The Rice County Board of Commissioners today approved expenditures for fencing and about a dozen change orders for the new Public Safety Center being constructed off HIghway 3 in north Faribault.

Parks and Facilities Department Director Matthew Verdick told commissioners the fence would cost just under $200,000.

Verdick also received unanimous approval for approximately $147,000 in change orders for the project.

Travis from the construction team informed the board the timeline is on target for completion mid-summer.

Commissioner Jerry Hoisington stated he has been involved with construction nearly all his life.

Sheriff Jesse Thomas requested and received approval for a new food service agreement for the Public Safety Center.  The agreement is with Consolidated Correction Foodservices, a division of Consolidated Management Company.

Thomas said the current contract with Summit provides a cold breakfast, cold lunch and hot dinner of 2400 calories and Consolidated will provide a cold breakfast, hot lunch and hot dinner with 2900 calories.

The contract for $4.10 each meal received unanimous approval.
