To say that America has a sweet tooth is an understatement.  Every year, the guess is that Americans eat over 10 billion donuts.  Some experts say that individually, we are chowing down an average of 63 donuts a year.  (If you live near a Kwik Trip or by Hanisch Bakery, it might be higher.).

While the numbers above might seem untrue, this is a donut fact I know is legit...donut discounts and freebies are happening this week.  If you are a donut lover, mark Friday, June 6th, 2025, on your calendar because all over the United States (including in Minnesota) people are celebrating this monumental day!

How Did National Donut Day Become a Tradition in the United States?

National Donut Day started back in World War I to show some love and thanks to our veterans.  The women at The Salvation Army who served the donuts were called the  "Donut Lassies".  It was more than just a warm donut that warmed the hearts of the men and women fighting in the war, it was also the smiles.

I was just there and snapped a few photos of the new addition. If only you could smell the bakery magic through these photos!
