A northbound SUV and southbound pick-up collided head-on on the two lane highway, the state crash report says.

Mankato, MN (MinnesotaNow)- One person was killed and another was injured following a head-on crash on a southern Minnesota highway over the weekend.

A man and woman were involved in the fatality. The State Patrol responded to the deadly collision shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.

North Mankato Woman Killed, Amboy Man Injured in Head-on Crash on Hwy. 22 Near Mankato

The fatal crash occurred on Hwy. 22 about nine miles south of Mankato.

A northbound SUV and southbound pick-up collided head-on on the two lane highway, the state crash report says. 

67-year-old Mary Gay Hlavac of North Mankato was driving the SUV. The State Patrol says she was pronounced dead at the scene. 

56-year-old Mike Charles Schoeb was identified as the driver of the pick-up. He was brought to the Mayo Clinic hospital in Mankato with non-life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol says.

Both drivers were buckled up and alcohol was not involved. The state crash report does not say which vehicle had entered the opposite lane.
