I love the 4th of July, but I always get nervous about this holiday.  According to DVM360.com, this holiday is a huge risk for pets.  Sadly, there is a 30-60% increase in pets breaking leashes, jumping fences, and getting lost between July 4th and July 6th.  The reason - fireworks.

An even more horrific statistic, according to Pet Amber Alert, only about 14% of pets who are lost get reunited with their owners.

Tips To Help Your Dog Stay Safe During The 4th of July Season in Minnesota

According to Cornell College, 50% of pets are afraid of loud noises.  Thunder is the typical scene where we see fear appear for our beloved pets.  But that anxiety creeps up tremendously whenever fireworks are happening in the area, too.  As soon as July 1st hits, the sky starts lighting up unexpectedly in our neighborhoods in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Even pets that are trained exceptionally well or always listen to you when you say the word "treat" can struggle when fireworks start popping in our Minnesota sky.
