McDonald’s Deadly E. coli Outbreak has Spread to Minnesota’s Neighboring States
A massive E. coli outbreak has developed that is linked back to McDonald's, specifically their Quarter Pounder. Now, states neighboring Minnesota have confirmed cases of people getting sick due to the Quarter Pounder.

McDonald's Quarter Pounder E. coli Outbreak
The latest information from the CDC is from October 22nd.
So far, 49 people have reported becoming sick and it has been linked to the McDonald's Quarter Pounder. 10 of those people have been hospitalized and 1 has died.
Most of the cases are in Nebraska and Colorado. The person who passed away was from Colorado.
The CDC also notes that most of the time, recent illness will take 3-4 weeks to link back to the McDonald's E. coli outbreak, so there may be people sick because of this that haven't been officially reported yet.
What is Causing the E. coli Outbreak at McDonald's?
The specific ingredients that they believe are causing the outbreak are the Quarter Pounder patties and/or the slivered onions that are used only on the Quarter Pounders.
Investigators are working to confirm where the E. coli is coming from and to see where else the product may have been distributed.
Which States Aren't Selling the McDonald's Quarter Pounder
The CDC writes that "McDonald's stores in Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, and portions of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma have temporarily stopped using Quarter Pounder slivered onions and beef patties."
Where People Are Getting Sick from McDonald's Quarter Pounder
As of right now, no cases have been confirmed in Minnesota but it's still possible that we'll be added to the list as more investigation is done. And like the CDC said, it can take 3-4 weeks to confirm if an illness is linked to this particular outbreak.
Also, our neighboring states of Iowa and Wisconsin now have confirmed cases. Other states where people have gotten sick due to this outbreak are Oregon, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.
