Every year, Livability dishes out its coveted list of top-notch cities to call home in the United States, and this time around, Illinois has really outdone itself with five gems making it to the prestigious Top 100.

How Did 5 Illinois Cities Make the Top 100 Best Places to Live

Livability teamed up with the wizards at Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS) to crunch numbers from thousands of cities across the nation.

They're cool algorithm takes everything into account – from the local economy to housing costs, amenities to safety, and even education and health perks. Each city gets a slick "LivScore," basically a report card grading its performance in all these key areas.
