Desperate Illinois Town Shelling Out $5000 To Relocate There
Feel like you're not wanted in your current city or town?
Well, you're in luck because there's a town in Illinois that needs folks so badly they're willing to pay you just to move there.
WOULD YOU RELOCATE TO A NEW CITY IF THE CITY ITSELF PAID YOU TO MOVE?
According to Make My Move, a website devoted to helping you "find your happy place:"
Incredible places across the U.S. are welcoming new residents with incentives, signing bonuses, and networking opportunities. We'll help you find your happy place, and get paid to move there.
Get the idea? Unbelievably, some cities need people and you can count the Jacksonville Region as one of those places.
Make My Move says "Known for its picturesque landscapes, friendly communities and vibrant cultural scenes, the Jacksonville region offers a unique blend of small-town charm and big-city conveniences."
JACKSONVILLE PAYING $5000 AND GIVING OUT OTHER STUFF TOO
Still on the fence? Well, Jacksonville is offering $6100 in cash and incentives just to move there. Some of those other "incentives" include:
- Complimentary passes for the local driving range
- Jacksonville specific merch
- A free checking account at the local bank
- Complimentary teeth whitening
Having never been to Jacksonville, I thought it might be a good idea to check on the "safety and wellness" of the city.
Crime Grade gave Jacksonville a D+ overall and said it's "in the 24th percentile for safety, meaning 76% of cities are safer and 24% of cities are more dangerous."
Kind of a "yikes" discovery but then again, $5000 could pay for a decent home security system.
