Yesterday the weather team at the Old Farmer's Almanac released their updated summer 2023 outlook for Minnesota. What started out as a wet spring, followed by a dry March and early June, now looks to be warm and wet for the rest of the summer.

If you believe in the Old Farmer's Almanac's forecasting ability, that is.

Honestly, as much as I love hot, sunny summer weather to play in, we have moved back into a moderate drought across much of Minnesota again -- and warm & rainy might be just what the doctor ordered.

Old Farmer's Alamac Minnesota Forecast for June

  • June 9-18: Scattered thunderstorms, heavy rain, mild.
  • June 19-30: Thunderstorms, warm.

Also for the month of June, the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting the average temperature to be one degree above average for the month on whole, with rainfall generally coming in at about two inches above average. (That would be nice but we have some serious catch up to do to hit that mark.)

Old Farmer's Alamac Minnesota Forecast for July

  • July 1-4: Showers, cool.
  • July 5-10: Isolated showers, mild.
  • July 11-12: Thunderstorms, warm.
  • July 13-15: A few thunderstorms, cool.
  • July 16-26: Sunny and mild.
  • July 27-31: Sunny and cool.

Looking at July as a whole, the Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting the average temperature to be two degrees below average for the month, with rainfall generally coming in at right about average.

We'll see how it plays out. The National Weather Service is also calling for warmer and wetter than average probabilities June 17-23.
