Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights senior Laden Nerison scored 29 points in a 72-54 Gopher Conference win at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Thursday night.

The Panthers were paced by senior Tyrone Wilson and sophmore Daxter Lee with 18 points each.

Both teams were in the double bonus in a foul infested first half that resulted in a 29-23 Knights lead.  Nerison had 13 points at the half.

Kenyon-Wanamingo pressed most of the game and got 17 Panthers turnovers while they committed 12 miscues, just 4 in the second half.

Knights senior Luke Alme added 12 points with 11 of those coming in the second half.

The Cashwise Foods and Pharmacy of Owatonna Delivery of the Game was a sweet behind the back pass by Panthers senior Tyrone Wilson in traffic setting up a teammate for a score in the first half.

The Held Bus Service of Kenyon Knights of the game were Nerison, 6'9 senior Paul Kortsch who altered numerous shots and had some blocks to set the tone in the game.

NRHEG was 5 of 15 from the free throw line while K-W shot 15 of 25 from the charity stripe.

Kenyon-Wanamingo's bench outscored NRHEG 10 to 8 with sophmore Colton Steberg contributing 7 points to earn the Tatge Jewelry of Kenyon super sub of the game.

The Knights are 2-1 overall, 2-0 in the Gopher Conference and go to state ranked Maple River next Thursday.

The Panthers are 1-1 overall and in the conference and head to St. James Tuesday then are at Triton next Friday, December 17, 2021.

In a early season showdown between two very good southern Minnesota teams Hayfield and Rushford-Peterson the top ranked defending Class 1A Champion Vikings dropped a game at Rushford 51-47.

Free throws were the difference with the Trojans connecting on 19 of 22 while the Vikings were 6 of 14.
