Kenyon-Wanamingo Volleyball Wins Homecoming Match

The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights defeated the Medford Tigers 3-1 tonight in the Castle during K-W's Homecoming week.

K-W won the first two sets by identical 25-19 scores,  Medford rolled to a 25-14 third set victory before Kenyon-Wanamingo sent the Tigers home with a 25-17 finish.

Homecoming Queen Stella Rechtzigel finished the night with 7 ace blocks, 6 kills and two ace serves.  Fellow members of the court Leah Berg, Julia Dahl had 12 and 7 kills respectively.

It was a very balanced attack by the Knights with juniors Tessa Erlandson and Josie Quam smacking 8 kills and 7 kills respectively.

Quam had 21 set assists and freshman Carmen Nerison added 16 set assists.

Sophmore libero Rachel Ryan picked up 20 digs.  Erlandson tallied 16 digs for Kenyon-Wanamingo.

It was good to see Medford senior Clara Kniefel back from illness but she may not be at 100 percent yet.  I had her with 9 kills on the night.  She also cranked out back to back to back ace serves in the Tigers third set win.  Classmate Isabel DeLeon added 12 kills according to my very unofficial statistics.

Senior Hannah Schull finished with 9 kills in the four sets.

Kenyon-Wanamingo this week returned to the Class A Top Ten according to the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association rankings.

The Homecoming King crowned Monday night is John Smith.  Other members of the court include ladies Corrie Born, Leah Berg, Raven Boulton, Julia Dahl and Rachel Nesseth.

The guys are Trevor Steberg, Laden Nerison, Alex Vold, Luke Alme and Evan Brossard.
