Get ready for body chills.

Minnesota band Yam Haus has created a new version of the popular New Years' song Auld Lang Syne, and the video features Minnesota landmarks and some major moments this state went through this year.

The band posted the video to Facebook saying:

There are some things we want to forget about this year, and some things we don’t. It’s been a year of learning, a year of growth, as individuals and as a band. It’s been pretty heavy and powerful stuff to see the global events that have taken place right in our backyard here in the twin cities and around the world. In 2021, we hope to take the hardships and trauma experienced this year and learn from it. No one can do everything, but we all can do something. As a band we are truly grateful for all the people fighting to make the world a safer place, a more empathetic place, a better place- for all.

The tune of the song is the same melody, but the lyrics were re-written in a way that encapsulates what we have been through as a society in 2020, and where we hope to go in the new year. My favorite lyrics are:

Let all the chaos be forgot
To my loved ones I’ll hold tight
I hope that generosity
Is my favorite state of mind

Happy new year to you and yours. May it be filled with love and prosperity.
