There are many, many ways to help the people of Ukraine. Fundraisers are popping up everywhere, some organizations are sending supplies over, and a group of Iowa college students are raising money and awareness by biking. And they're biking a very long way, starting in Rochester, Minnesota.

These students are from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Two students, Anita Tamang and Souksakhone Sengasaisouk put the event together with the help of their professor Maryna Nading who is from Ukraine. If you're interested you can join them! We'll talk about that in a second.

In the press release I got from Luther College, they said that Anita was planning on doing a bike ride from Rochester to Decorah for a while. She wanted the ride to benefit something but couldn't decide what. Then the war in Ukraine began and she started making plans.

Professor Nading still has family and friends in Ukraine. She said, "'None of them left the country. They work towards victory. They believe in peace and so do I. Until that time, we need to help each other in every way possible.'" And she thinks that this bike ride is the perfect way to do that. "'It shows commitment, it shows endurance, it shows standing up for what's right.'"

You can sign up to ride with them on their 75-mile journey. Or you can be part of the support crew if you don't want to ride. No matter how you'd like to participate, fill out their Google Form. And of course, donating money to help Ukraine is the ultimate goal for the group. All of the money raised will go straight to Ukraine. It will go to a local oncology clinic in Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine where Professor Nading’s mom is working. So far their GoFundMe has raised over $2,000.
