Minnesota Busts Out Snow Plows In June

It may be June, and our temperatures may be in the 90's, but one Minnesota city busted out the snow plows over the weekend.

Sunday morning's storms that rolled through the Twin Cities and western Wisconsin dumped some massive hail on parts of the metro area, along with winds reaching between 60 and 80 miles an hour.

But it was the hail that was the talk of the town. In fact, in Coon Rapids, a Twin Cities suburb about an hour and a half northwest of Rochester, there was so much hail, the city brought out snow plows and front end loaders to clear the streets!

Now THAT is a lot of hail. Several friends of mine who live in the Twin Cities posted reports yesterday of golf-ball size hail on Facebook, but I didn't see anyone have to get out their snow shovels to clean up.

But that's what they did in Coon Rapids. In fact, a KARE-11 story quoted one resident who actually fired up his snowblower yesterday.  "It was like a snow storm – of hail," Coon Rapids resident Ron Busch said in the story.

The skies got pretty dark at our house yesterday morning, but we only got a little light rain-- thankfully.
