It's not quite time but I am ready for baseball season!  I'm a baseball mom and I love sitting on the sidelines, watching my kids wear that uniform for the first time on the field.  Their little life is just perfect as they hold the glove and swing the bat and they are dreaming big.  I have never played ball and have zero advice, so I'm zero help there, but recently a few Minnesota Twins were in town that helped answer the question, "What advice do you have for kids that want a career in baseball?".

Last week a bunch of kids and families had a chance to meet with a few of the Minnesota Twins at the Twins Caravan when it stopped in Rochester.  The entire night was amazing and started with TC Bear coming over and giving me the biggest hug ever. 💗 I felt the Twins love right then and knew this would be a special night for so many kids and families.  I had no idea that it would soon turn into such a priceless moment for many.

Before the autographs started, TC Bear grabbed a microphone and was ready to get to everyone that had a question for Cory Provus, Hall of Famer Bert Blyleven, outfielder Jake Cave and catcher Ryan Jeffers.  There were a lot of questions that were asked, and TC Bear was moving fast to everyone, but there was one brave kid that I thought had the best question of all,

"What advice do you have for kids that want a career in baseball?"

Jake Cave and Bert Blyleven both had some great answers for kids that night.  Unfortunately, I had my mom hat on rather than radio and I wasn't fast enough to record what Jake said or write everything down.  I reached out to him though and he was kind enough to send me his answer again for all of the kiddos out there who are dreaming of playing ball in the big leagues.

"I think kids should know that there's a lot of practice and repetition that comes with being a good ballplayer.  If you want to be great you have to go play and practice whenever you can and always remember that you never know who is watching it." - Jake Cave

Bert's answer was easier to remember but one that is very true, "Have fun!".

As a mom, I just wanted to say "thanks" to all of those from the Minnesota Twins that are going around to towns, those that have helped organize the caravans, and the time that you are spending with the fans.  There are a lot of fans, young and old that look up to this team and will be cheering you on again this year.  And who knows, your words may have just inspired a kiddo hit the batting cages even more.
