Minnesota Vikings Upgrade Offensive Line with Free Agent Signing Yesterday

The Minnesota Vikings made a significant upgrade to their offensive line yesterday, by signing former Denver Broncos guard Dalton Risner.

Risner has been the starting left guard for the Broncos for the past four seasons in which he missed just four games.

Reports say Risner agreed to a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings for  $4 million with $2.25 million guaranteed.

On going unsigned through the first two weeks of the season, Risner says:

It was tough. But I’m so grateful for this opportunity and this door that the Lord opened for it. And I’m going to make the most of it.

Risner's free-agent wait went on for so long, he was able to watch the first two games as a TV viewer. That's not what he wanted -- but he's appreciative that things worked out in the end.

Risner will look good in purple, Kirk Cousins will look good on his feet.

Yes, the Minnesota Vikings are 0-2 on the new season, but with Green Bay and Detroit's losses Sunday, the Vikings are one game out of first place. No team in the NFC North has a record better than 1-1.

I would argue that without the three turnovers in game one, and four turnovers in game two -- a case could be made the Minnesota could be 2-0. I know, woulda, shoulda, coulda; but I'm not so alarmed with their start as others.

I have also been accused of being too optimistic (true story).
