Mabel, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol has released additional information concerning a deadly motorcycle-horse collision in Fillmore County Friday morning.

The State Patrol says 60-year-old Timothy Holt of Decorah, Iowa was driving east on Highway 44 near Mabel when his motorcycle crashed into a horse on the roadway, which is a two-lane rural highway that runs across a series of rolling hills in that area. The horse, owned by 42-year-old Levi Yoder, had been grazing in the south ditch along the highway and broke free of its chain and went up onto the eastbound lane.

The State Patrol report says Holt hit the brakes and swerved in an attempt to avoid the horse, but ran out room. He and the horse died at the site of the crash around 11:30 am.
