The Austin Packers gave Becker all they wanted and Mankato East prevailed over higher seed Benilde-St. Margaret's in Quarterfinals action at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota Campus.

Top seed and #1 ranked defending State Champion Becker got by #7 rated Austin 53-48 and #6 ranked and #5 seed Mankato East defeated #4 seed and #5 rated Benilde-St. Margaret's 62-51.

On the other side of the bracket #2 seed, #2 ranked St. Paul Como Park rolled over #9 rated Grand Rapids 76-57 and #3 seed Totino-Grace dominated unranked Detroit Lakes 64-43.

The Austin Packers led most of the game against Becker but it's the final score that counts.  The Bulldogs had a 2 point lead at halftime (22-20) in a game that featured 8 lead changes and 3 ties.

The statistics were as close as the score with Becker cashing in on 8 three point baskets, Austin 7.  The Bulldogs scored 14 points off turnovers, the Packers 11.

Both teams did not shoot free throws well in the unique environment.  Becker was 3 of 8 and Austin 3 of 7.  Austin tallied 35 rebounds to Becker's 31.  Both teams had 13 assists.

One of the keys was probably keeping the Dudycha twins from Austin off the free throw line because they are excellent free throw shooters.  Neither shot a single free throw.  Senior 5'4 Hope Dudycha finished the game with 12 points, 4 assists.  5'4 Emma had 9 points, 3 assists.  Junior 5'9 Olivia Walsh finished the contest with 12 points, 9 rebounds. Senior 5'11 Reana Schmitt had 8 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 blocks.

Becker was led by junior 5'8 Maren Westin with 15 points, 6 rebounds.  Three Bulldogs players were on the floor every second and one other played all but 22 seconds of the game.

Becker will play Mankato East at Noon Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Williams Arena in Semifinals action.

The Cougars had a 31-23 halftime lead against the Red Knights.  Mankato East scored 32 points in the paint compared to Benilde-St. Margaret's 24.

Mankato East shot 48.8% for the game while B-SM finished at 30.9% from the field.

The Cougars were 16 of 23 from the free throw line while the Red Knights were 14 of 16 from there.

Junior 5'5 Peyton Stevermer and senior 5'10 Mackenzie Schweim paced Mankato East with 17 points each and sophomore 5'9 Ellie Edberg added 10 points.  Benilde-St. Margaret's sophomore 6'0 Olivia Olson was 9 of 10 from the free throw line and ended the game with 21 points.  Freshman 5'9 Kendall McGee had 11 points.

BSM and Austin play in the Consolation Round at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Concordia St. Paul.

St. Paul Como Park held a 37-23 lead over Grand Rapids at the half and led nearly the entire game.  Points in the paint were 46 to 14 in favor of the Cougars.

Every player for both teams got to play in the contest.  St. Paul Como Park had 4 players in double figures paced by senior 5'3 Ronnie Porter with 21 points, 7 assists.

Kaylynn Asberry was not listed in the program roster but had 17 points, 4 assists.  Senior 5'10 Jada James finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds.

Junior 5'6 Shania Nichols scored 11 points in less than 15 minutes of action and added 5 rebounds.

Thunderhawks junior 5'9 Taryn Hamling scored 20 points.  Sophomore 5'11 Jessica Lofstrom added 13 points.

St. Paul Como Park faces Totino-Grace at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022 on the raised floor of The Barn in Semifinals action.

Grand Rapids and Detroit Lakes square off in St. Paul at 4:00 p.m.

The Eagles of Totino-Grace held a 39-15 halftime lead and never looked back in their contest with Detroit Lakes.  Totino-Grace outpaced the Lakers in the paint 28-14 and scored 24 points off 24 turnovers.

Detroit Lakes did outrebound the Eagles 35-33.

Senior 6'0 Hannah Herzig paced Totino-Grace with 17 points and 10 rebounds in 31:38.  Junior 5'10 Abby Lord added 16 points in 22:48 and Senior 5'9 Leah Dengerud finished with 14 points in 28:17.

Detroit Lakes leading scorer was junior 5'11 Jacee Hauser with 15 points and sophomore 5'10 Gabriella Bettcher nearly got a double-double with 10 points, 9 rebounds.
