I've been told by a lot of folks that there isn't much to do or see in Minnesota. I have to kindly disagree with that statement. If you are willing to drive, there's a lot to see. One of my coworker's family has adopted me and this past weekend they invited me on an adventure to go see the National Eagle Center in Wabasha. If you have never been, it is worth the trip.

The National Eagle Center is located right off the Mississippi River.... which is a beautiful sight to see especially with all the snow and ice. Their website says the best time to see eagles in the wild in Minnesota is in winter. We were there on Sunday and were able to see about a dozen of them flying around. It was super hard to get good pictures of them with my iPhone, but if you have a fancy camera, you can get some great photos. If you would also like to watch them without driving that far, you can on their website by clicking here.

If you chose to visit the National Eagle Center, you can learn a lot about these animals. Apparently the females are larger than the males. They also have amazing eyesight... and they have out of this world grip strength. I thought it was so cool to see an eagle up close! They had three of them on display that they even fed them while I was there. I have always thought these birds were beautiful, but I have a new respect for them now that I have visited the National Eagle Center. According to their website, there are plenty of events coming up in the next few months that are centered around the birds.

Another fun fact about Wabasha... the restaurant from the movie "Grumpy Old Men," is located there. We were going to eat at Slippery's Tavern & Ristorante, but they were closed for the season. I guess I'm just going to have to make a stop there this summer.
