Belly rubs and ear scratches were in order for Zeus on Sunday, as he was officially on the job, and made a drug bust in the first 30 minutes of being on the job too. Zeus and his handler Deputy Kurschner made the traffic stop just 11 minutes into their first shift after graduating from the National Police Canine Association Thursday.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office posted about the stop and Zeus' pretty good first hour on the job.

The post from the Dakota County Sheriff's Office said:

11 minutes into Deputy Kurschner’s shift after returning from K9 School he made a traffic stop. 30 minutes into his partner Zeus’ K9 career Zeus was sniffing the vehicle for suspected narcotics. K9 Zeus alerted on the odor of narcotics. The vehicle was searched, and 1st Degree amount of methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle.

That's quick work for the freshly graduated pair, as it was just Thursday the Sheriff's Office publically graduated Deputy Kurschner and Zeus for graduating 'K9' school.

This will be the first in what will probably become many narcotics busts for Zeus and Deputy Kurschner. But it wasn't the only methamphetamine bust by the Dakota County Sheriff's Office in the last month. Back on October 30th, a Dakota County deputy in Miesville made a narcotics arrest after witnessing a man "take a hit of a meth pipe" right in front of a deputy.

After witnessing the 'hit of meth' the Dakota County deputy searched the vehicle the two men were sitting in and found "a 1st-degree amount of methamphetamine."
