New Riverland Scholarship Program
Riverland Community College announces the introduction of a unique scholarship program. Minnesota State is launching a pilot Workforce Development Scholarship project. The project encourages two-year community colleges like Riverland to partner with others to provide scholarships for a high-skill careers such as nurse, computer technician, mechanic, electricians and others.
The Riverland Community College Foundation has been working to match the legislative funds of $2,500 per scholarships with business partners to total into $5,000 scholarships.
According to a press release from Riverland they will team with area legislators, sponsors and Chambers of Commerce to announce this development on Friday, March 2. Plans will be revealed at 9AM at the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce. The announcement at the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce will take place at 11AM. The Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism will be the setting for the announcing of details at 3PM.
Plans are for 6 scholarships to be awarded to 2018 seniors from Mower County along with 6 from Freeborn and 6 from Steele County.
