If you are looking for a quick diagnosis or medicine you might be heading further for that type of treatment. Beginning on Monday, the Northfield Express Care Clinic will be temporarily closing for an undetermined amount of time.

According to the Northfield Hospital website  that highlights the express care clinic as a location:

Express Care Clinic will close temporarily starting October 18.

Same-day appointments are available at Northfield Clinic. Call 507-646-1494.

Need care on weekends? Urgent Care Lakeville is open Saturdays and Sundays, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Call: (952) 469-0500 for current wait times.

That was also the message on social media in regards to the express care clinics' temporary closing.

What remains unclear is when the express care clinic will reopen, as Northfield Hospitals is only calling it a temporary closure.

One commenter to the social media post put it succinctly for many in our area:

"I didn't even know this existed... sure would have used it more for my kids of I did"

The Duluth News Tribune reported this morning the effect the recent surge in COVID-19 cases is taking on rural healthcare providers. The DNT reported that: "The challenge of providing health care in many parts of Minnesota is simple but severe: Too many people remain unvaccinated, hospitals are short-staffed, and there is not enough space for those who are critically ill."
