It may not feel like it just yet, but, Winter is coming. So are the cold temperatures and snow, ice, wind, and the need to stay warm. This can be a challenge for some families, as the heating costs go up, the holidays are right around the corner, and the kids seem to have grown 2 sizes from last year's winter gear.

What is a family to do? That is a very good question. The answer may very well be the Steele County Clothesline. They not only provide clothing and small household items to families in need, but their store is also a thrift store, so, for those who may not qualify to shop there for free, they can still get quality items and at a fraction of the cost of brand new.

Of course, the Steele County Clothesline depends on donations from the community, and they are now looking for winter gear. In a post on their Facebook page, they asked specifically for winter clothing.

Community Bank Owatonna has partnered with the Steele County Clothesline for their annual Winter Coat Drive. They are looking for winter gear of all sizes, with an emphasis on men's winter coats and gloves, children's winter boots, and children's snow pants. If you have any extra that your own kids have outgrown, but are still in good condition, consider donating them to the Steele County Clothesline.

The Clothesline also has their wish list on their website, these are items they are replenishing quite often:

  • socks for boys, girls, men and women

  • children’s underpants and undershirts

  • men’s briefs and undershirts

  • women’s panties and bras

  • kitchen and household items

  • bath and kitchen towels and wash cloths

  • bedding

  • kid’s school clothing and shoes

  • pajamas for boys, girls, men and women

  • men’s clothing and shoes

  • steele toed shoes/boots
