The Cass County, Minnesota Sheriff's Office today updated their News Release relating to the weekend OHV fatal accident.

The deceased was identified as Brandon Young, age 23 of Waterville, Mn.  According to a Facebook post Young graduated from Waseca High School.

The report by Sheriff Tom Burch says the initial investigation indicated Young was operating the OHV alone during the previous evening.  Authorities believe the accident occurred sometime after midnight but before it was discovered by other OHV users riding along the Lake Alice Road area in rural Akeley, Mn.

The discovery was reported to authorities at 10;28 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

The initial report stated:  "Deputies arrived on scene and met with the reporting party.  They located a 2021 CAN AM MaverickS OHV that had lost control on the roadway, enterted the ditch, struck a large oak tree and caught fire.  Located inside the OHV was the single occupant (now identified as Brandon Young) deceased."

The Walker Fire Department and State Fire Marshall's Office assisted at the crash scene.
