Here’s a quick heads-up for any and all stargazers around Southeast Minnesota; a ‘dazzling’ meteor shower is expected to be on full display tonight. You may want to prepare yourself to either stay up late or become an early riser, because we could be in for a pretty awesome spectacle.
The Orionids are said to be one of the best meteor showers of the year, and you can try catching them tonight when they're at their most active. Here are a few tips on how to catch some skylight entertainment tonight:
- The ideal time is said to be between 11PM and 12:30AM.
- Find a dark place (being out in the country works best)
- Try laying back in the grass so you can see as much of the sky as possible
- Most of the showers will appear just north of the constellation Orion's brightest star, Betelgeuse (a stargazing app might help with this)
