Owatonna Homecoming Week, Part 1 has started. September 28 through October 2 will feature a variety of physically-distanced events as a way to continue the annual tradition in a nontraditional year. The top five homecoming king and queen candidates were revealed late last week. Coronation will be a family-only event for the candidates at the stadium field Wednesday evening. The top five queen candidates:

  • Emma Dahnert
  • Sarah Kingland
  • Grace Linders
  • Wilo Omot
  • Grace Wolfe

The top king candidates:

  • Payton Beyer
  • Ashton Jensen
  • Dom Nelson
  • Lane Versteeg
  • Jonathan Wall

The rest of the homecoming court includes Annika Andrix, Lindsay Bangs, Emma Klemmensen, Syd Hunst, Libby Janke, Sabella Maas, Lily Sampson, Connor Budach, Sam Buegler, Nolan Burmeister, Zach Kubicek, Lincoln Maher, Matt Seykora, Zach Stransky, Jack Tichenal, and Brayden Truelson.

Listen to AM 1390 throughout the week for interviews with homecoming candidates. Interviews will air generally at quarter-past the hour, roughly between 7 am and 5 pm. Watch for uploads here on the website as well.

Ashton Jensen said it's humbling to be including in the top five. He's part of the student council and is very excited about how well the juniors in charge of homecoming have organized great events. Hear the full interview with Ashton below.

Sydney Hunst said, "I think it's really cool. Student council really went out of their way this year to try to make sure we still had fun homecoming activities even if it wasn't going to look the way that it normally does." Hear her full interview below.

Libby Janke commented, "I'm happy to be a part of it because it is going to be so different this year. We don't really know what's going to happen when they do the Part II (in the spring)."
