Owatonna's summer baseball teams are all in the playoffs this weekend, hoping to extend their seasons and play into the month of August. The American Legion plays Friday afternoon, while the VFW and Aces are both in action Saturday.

The Post 77 Legion team faces a must win scenario against the Rochester Eagles at 1 pm Friday in Albert Lea, who is hosting the remaining games of the Sub-State 1 tournament. Owatonna dropped a 7-1 game at the Rochester Patriots early this week.

With a win, they play again at 7 pm Friday night. A loss ends their season.

Owatonna Post 3723 VFW is on a winning streak. After dropping their first playoff game, they reeled off four straight wins, each an elimination game, to reach the final four. Owatonna faces Northfield Saturday morning at 10 am. Winona and Austin round out the remaining field.

The Aces take a four-game winning streak into the Region 5C amateur tournament. Owatonna faces Waseca Saturday night at 7 pm at the Athletic Park in Red Wing. The Aces will be the home team in the last of four games scheduled for July 28. Cannon Falls opens with Pine Island at 10 am, followed by Dodge County versus the Rochester Roadrunners at 1 pm and Randolph against Winona at 4 pm.

The winning teams play again Sunday, also in Red Wing. If Owatonna wins they play the host team at 7 pm. The other first-round byes belong to Stewartville-Racine, Lake City and Wanamingo. The tournament resumes at Fuller Field at Dartt's Park in Owatonna August 4.
