Owatonna High School girls tennis will open the section playoffs at home Tuesday, October 6 against Red Wing. The Huskies are the fifth seed. The Wingers are 12th. Only a couple of weeks ago, section playoffs were an uncertainty. The section team tournament will be the culminating event for the season. There will be no individual tournament, nor state tournament. There was also no Big Nine Conference tournament this year.

The winner of Tuesday's match will face the winner of fourth-seed Northfield and Waseca. The Huskies beat Red Wing, lost to Northfield, and did not play the Blue Jays this fall.

The Minnesota State High School League recently launched a new website. Check here for the bracket for Section tennis.

Owatonna's lineup has stayed very steady throughout the season. Singles players have included Olivia Herzog, Megan Johnson, Alex Huemoeller, and Olivia McDermott. The doubles teams have been Caitlynne Bussert/Cora Barrett, Lauren Thamert/Klara Blacker, and Alivia Schuster/Emma Herzog.
