The Huskies won their fourth straight Big Nine title Saturday with a score of 147.175 at Winona. It is Owatonna's 15th overall conference championship and eighth over the last 11 winters. Historically, OHS has had a strong program and was part of the first-ever championship in 1972, sharing it with Austin. Northfield was second with the Packers third.

No. 3-ranked Owatonna (146.525) looks to defend its Section 1AA title Friday, February 15 at Farmington High School. Three other section teams are rated in the coaches' poll with Rosemount (No. 16, 139.950), Farmington (No. 18, 139.60) and Northfield (No. 21, 138.917).

The Huskies have advanced to the state meet the last three season, finishing third in each of the last two meets. The year's state meet is February 22-23 at the Maturi Pavilion at the University of Minnesota.

Owatonna has finished on top in every meet this season including the elite Faribault Invitational which the Huskies won for the first time on January 5. Their 146.25 was good enough to beat No. 2 East Ridge, No. 8 Wayzata, No. 9 Anoka, No. 11 Edeng Prairie, No. 16 Rosemount, No. 18 Farmington, No. 21 Northfield and No. 20 (Class A) Austin.

In an OHS Magnet report this season, Huskies coach Tom Smith said, "Anything is possible as long as you believe. Believe in your team, believe in yourself and believe in your coaches. Everything else will take care of itself."

The Huskies three seniors are Ali An, Grace Barner and Sydney Kretlow.

Big Nine titles are a bit contagious for the Huskies right now as the wrestlers won their third straight title Friday in Faribault.
