The Owatonna Parks and Recreation website indicates certain limits for hockey, "Due to COVID restrictions there will be limits on number of participants this year per session, so register early." Special protocol for basketball states, "Only coaches will be allowed at practices and games. This applies to all grades, K-6. Only ISD 761 (Owatonna School District) participants are allowed to participate."

The hockey program features in-house competition on a half-ice and full equipment is required. The website states, "This is Owatonna's starters program that players progress through before becoming active in Owatonna Youth Hockey Association traveling hockey."

Each hockey session is a $75 sign up fee and begins January 9 and runs through March 7.

The basketball program in non-competitive for both the Kindergarten and 1st and 2nd grade programs. Each participant will receive a basketball to keep as part of the sign up process. That is a new feature this year. The cost is $57 and runs four dates: January 23, 30, February 13, and 20.

Registration for 3rd grade through 6th grade basketball began in October. The program begins January 9.
