For now the promise of snow or even cold temperatures doesn't look too promising. However, registrations are still encouraged for the Bold and Cold Snow Sculpture Competition which is scheduled for January 17-20. As it's looking for more likely there's gonna be a problem finding snow there are plans to try it in February should the warm weather continue. There's no charge to register and there will be prizes awarded. Go to the Owatonna Parks and Recreation web site to sign up.

The Steele County Historical Society has some indoor events planned for Saturday, January 19. They include a S'more family fun time with hot cocoa from 2-5pm at the History Center. This will be followed by a Tater Tot Bar from 5-7pm. Then Erik Koskinen and his band along with 6 Mile Grove will perform at 7pm that night. Tickets for the concert are $15 for members and $20 for non members.
