Popular MN Restaurant Won’t Reopen June 1st for “Community Safety”

While many restaurants and bars can not wait for June 1st too re-open, Common Roots Cafe in Minneapolis has decided to wait a little longer before opening their doors again.

Community safety is much more important than the success of our business.

In a Facebook post by Common Roots, they have elected to keep their doors shut for in person dining until further notice but will continue to serve curbside and home deliveries. Owners, Danny and Elana Schwartzman, believe that the health and safety of the public and their customers are more important than the success of their business. In the lengthy post, it continues to say, "We are very thankful for leaders in our state, from Governor Walz on down, who are thinking about that every day and trying to steer a course that prioritizes safety with keeping things as normal as is possible. However we realize that we're not in control — the virus is".

Common Roots also took a shot at the Federal Government and the Trump Administration for their "utter failure" of having to choose between saving lives or the lively hood of small businesses.

It's an impossible choice to get right, and one that we shouldn't be asking -- we have great wealth in this country and we should be able to do both
