Once again the American Red Cross is conducting their missing letter campaign. The Red Cross has removed the letters A, B, and O-the letters that makeup the main blood groups- from social media, signs and websites. It's an attempt to draw attention to the importance of donating blood.

As an example of how severe a blood shortage can be, just last month the Red Cross had just 6 units of type O blood available for every 100,000 people.

Here's a look at some upcoming blood drives in the area:

Wednesday, June 12 at the Faribault Hy-Vee from 9-3pm

Thursday, June 13 at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior in Faribault from 9-3pm.

Thursday, June 14 at Lowe's in Owatonna from 11-5pm

Thursday, June 14 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault from 8-2pm

Thursday, June 14 at Family Video in Owatonna from 11-5pm

Tuesday, June 18 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna from 12-6pm

Friday, June 21 at the United Methodist Church in Ellendale from 1-7pm
