Red Flag Fire Weather Warning for Parts of Southern Minnesota Today
High winds today, along with dry vegetation and low humidities have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Fire Weather Warning for this afternoon and evening across parts of southern Minnesota.
Critical fire weather conditions are expected and any fires that form will have the ability to spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
Steady southeast winds 20 to 30 mpg, with gusts near 45 mph are expected today with humidities dropping to 30 percent. Dry vegetation will also contribute to the elevated fire danger today.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
