Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn went before the Rice County Board of Commissioners today asking for proclamations dealing with recognizing police officers and corrections officers this week.  Sheriff Dunn told Commissioners there will be a special program outside the front of the Rice County Law Enforcement Center Wednesday at 8:15 a.m. recognizing the six officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty in Rice County.

KDHL Radio will be broadcasting our 8:05 a.m. News Report from the event and invite you to tune in if you can't be there.  The Sheriff did not read the proclamation for Police Officers Week noting he would be doing that during the Wednesday program.  County Board Chair Galen Malecha told Dunn they do appreciate everything law enforcement officers and corrections officers do for the county

Malecha said he believes officers, "Get a bad rap these days in the television media."  Which he said is, "looking for sensational news."
