The 47th Annual Rice County Steam & Gas Engine Show will be this weekend on their showgrounds just south of Northfield on Highway 3. I am certain all the club members are looking forward to the show after it was canceled last year because of the pandemic. Plus, the forecast is looking really nice for the show Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

The club motto is "Preserving a bit of Yesterday for Tomorrow" and that is exactly what they do! There are a number of historic buildings from Rice County that have been moved to their showgrounds and restored including the 1920's Drentlaw Farm House. The neat thing about the show is hands on demonstrations for the kids in the Farm Area.

There will be food stands, live music, swap meet and flea market, horse drawn wagon rides, steam and gas engines, sawmill, plowing with horses, kids pedal tractor pull, antique tractors, and a whole lot more. Another really popular event is the tractor pull Sunday morning with registration at 7:00 and the pull starts at 9:00 am. Plus, you never know what you might find at the Flea Market.

In addition you cannot have a show without small grain threshing right? Decades ago that is how the Rice County Steam & Gas Engine Club got started, a few farmers got together later on in the summer and thrashed bundled grain with an old threshing machine just for fun!
