Each June for the last 5 years, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has allowed free access to ATV riders on Minnesota Public Trails. The date has been pushed back to this weekend, September 7-9 in time for the new trails to be finished. All-terrain vehicle users registered for private or agricultural use can ride the old and new state trails for free this weekend. Usually there would be a $60 fee for 3 years.

Out-of-state riders can ride free on Minnesota ATV trails as well this weekend instead of paying the $30 annual fee.

Also, this Saturday, September 8 will be Youth Waterfowl Day. Youth ages 15 and under can hunt waterfowl when accompanied by an adult who is not hunting. Hunters, ages 13-15 must have a firearms safety certificate or apprentice hunter validation in their possession.  Hunters age 15 and under may take the regular season bag limits of ducks and five Canada geese when accompanied by an adult age 18 or older who is not hunting. The accompanying adult does not need a license.
