Rochester Clean Water Projects Get $1.8 Million in State Funding

St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A significant water quality project in Rochester is among 29 projects statewide that are receiving funding through nearly $191 million in state grants and loans.
Cascade Township has been awarded more than $1.8 million through a grant funded by the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority. The state funding will be combined with more than $450,000 from the Township to cover the cost of connecting the Hallmark Terrace and Zumbro Ridge Estates mobile home parks to Rochester's wastewater treatment system.
Austin is the only other community in the southeastern corner of the state to be included on the list that received state funding for water quality projects through the state program this year. Austin is receiving nearly $7.5 million to design, engineer, and construct an expansion and rehabilitation of the city's wastewater treatment plant.
“PFA grants are an important tool that help maintain and build our waterways for future business and economic growth,” said PFA chair and Commissioner of the Department of Employment and Economic Development Steve Grove. “Congratulations to these cities and counties on their awards, which will lead to economic growth across the state.”
Three projects accounted for well over half of the $191 million in state funding. St. Paul is receiving $46 million, Foley has been awarded nearly $28 million, and Two Harbors will get almost $33.5 million.
