Small Town Church Sells Extremely Popular Wood-Fired Pizza in Southeast Minnesota
In the small town of Berne, Minnesota in southeast Minnesota there's a really popular pizza spot called Berne Wood-Fired Pizza, but you wouldn't expect it. That's because this delicious, wood-fired pizza is served through the church in town, called Zwingli United Church of Christ.
Berne Wood-Fired Pizza is a fundraiser for the church, so all of the workers are volunteers. And I hear this place gets really popular when they're open so those volunteers put in a lot of work!
Let's talk more about the delicious pizza. As I mentioned, they're wood-fired pizzas and there are all different kinds from veggie to meat lovers to cheese (plus plenty of other specialty pizzas in between, you can see the full menu HERE). All pizzas are $23 except the cheese, which is $18 and they do not have gluten-free crusts, so keep that in mind.
I think the really fun part about this place is how casual it is. They're only open in June, July, and August from 5-8 PM. They have live, local music that's performed many nights. There are some picnic tables but they encourage you to bring your own blankets and/or chairs to sit on. They also sell things other than pizza, which include pop, water, ice cream, and chips. You can however bring your own drinks, including beer and wine.
A couple of other things to note before you go: no pets are allowed and they don't accept credit or debit cards on-site (you can pay in advance online with a credit or debit card). You need to have exact change if you're paying on-site.
Google lists the address of Berne Wood-Fired Pizza & Concert Series as 5054 23148, County Rd 24, West Concord, MN 55985
