Plenty of golf courses are beginning to open up. I feel that when we see golf courses beginning to open up, that is a REAL sign of spring rather than a barge heading upriver or a robin sitting on a tree branch. When you hear the clubs pinging golf balls on the driving range, you know warmer weather is on the way. Sadly for those who favor an executive 9-hole golf course, the options to play one in Southern Minnesota just got a little smaller. Clarks Grove Golf Course announced yesterday in a Facebook post that they were NOT going to open up this year, and are closing the golf course.

The post from the Tenneson family which recently purchased the golf course stated that:

We made the tough decision to close the course. We really enjoyed our two years of golf and the awesome people we met, but we just can't swing the costs and the time involved. Thanks for the past support, and we hope to see you around

The 9-hole course was an affordable option for many in SOuthern Minnesota as it boasted 9 holes of golf for just $10, and if you wanted a cart it was only another $10. Other fun options that the former course offered members of the public were an adult scramble every Thursday, and a youth scramble every Tuesday.

While there are still other courses in the area, finding one that is priced to play for just about everyone can be tough. You can still swing your sticks at other golf courses in the area, see what courses are around by heading here.
