Southern Minnesota Grocery Chain Named Best in America

We've got all kinds of options when it comes to buying groceries here in Minnesota, but lucky us; one of our local stores has been named the best in the U.S.

From the big box stores, to the well-known grocery spots, down to the smaller stand-alone town grocers -- most of us have plenty of options when it comes to picking up groceries to feed our families.

However, that's not the case in all of America, where grocery deserts are becoming a thing, leaving no convenient options for some (especially rural) communities. The trend is becoming more of an issue in some inner city areas as well. Some rural communities in the U.S. are being left with nothing but dollar-type stores for a local option for putting food on the table.

How Fortunate Are We in Southern Minnesota?

So count ourselves lucky that not only do we have multiple options when it comes to buying groceries, but one of our local grocers has been named the best in the country in a recent USA Today readers poll.

Hy-Vee has been voted the Best Grocery Store in America, according to USA Today's 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards. This is the first year Hy-Vee has ranked #1 on the list, previously ranking within the top three spots.

Hy-Vee also scored another gold medal for 'Best Grocery Store for Produce' and a sliver for the second spot on the 'Best Grocery Store for Prepared Food' in the nation list.

Grocery stores and chains can tend to be pretty regional, but in southern Minnesota we're able to find four of the top ten, including Hy-Vee, ALDI, Trader Joe's, and Fresh Thyme.
