A number of road improvement projects will be starting in June in Steele County, which will affect motorists.

Starting Monday, June 5, bridge replacement will begin on CSAH 34 (26th Street Northwest) just about two miles west of Interstate 35. Local traffic only will be allowed from Fourth Avenue Northwest westbound to the bridge closure location and from CSAH 17 (Northwest 52nd Avenue) eastbound to the bridge closure location. This project should be completed in mid- to late August.

Starting Monday, June 12, a number of Steele County roads will undergo work including repaving. Roads include CR 111 between 112 and 23, CSAH 11 north from Northwest 76th Street, and CSAH 18 from 23 south. This is work that will affect motorists in northwestern Steele County.

In southern Steele County, work will begin June 12 on CSAH 26 from County Road 45 to Highway 218, also CSAH 24 south from CSAH 26 to Southeast 168th Street, and CSAH14 south of Highway 30. Short-term closure of highways will be necessary while pipes are being replaced along with resurfacing. There will be times when traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction. Be on the alert for flaggers and be prepared to stop should that situation arise.
