Steele County earned their first win of the season 7-0 over Blaine on Saturday at Four Seasons in Owatonna, but lost games Friday and Sunday.

The weekend opened with a trip to Hudson, Wis., to play the St.Croix Valley Magicians. Similar to their previous meeting, the Blades built a lead only to lose in overtime 5-4. Steele County led 3-1 in the second period. The Magicians outshot the Blades 42-28 and converted on two power plays.

Steele County came out strong Saturday night in their home match-up with Blaine. The Blades outshot the Energy 20-8 in the opening 20 minutes and grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals by Chase Lewis (Winston Salem, N.C.) and Jesse Guyer (Kamas, Utah). In the second period Steele County added two more. Wilson Anderle (Hanover, Minn.) scored short-handed and Jaeger Zwygart (Kansas City, Mo.) cashed in on a penalty shot. The Blades got goals in the third from Kaleb Combs (West Valley City, Utah), Guyer and Lewis. Koy Payne (Elysian, Minn.) had two assists on the night. Goalie Wyatt Ulrich (International Falls, Minn.) stopped 31 shots for the shut-out victory and the No. 1 star of the night. Lewis (2 goals, 2 assists) took the second star and Guyer (2 goals) got the third star.

Sunday night at Forest Lake the Blades scored first on a goal from Lewis, but the Lakers dominated the rest of the way. Forest Lake was ahead 3-1 by the end of the first period on the way to a 7-1 victory.

The Blades (1-2-2) will host Chicago on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7PM and Saturday, Sept. 26, at 3PM at Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.
