The Steele County Free Fair will induct the newest members of the Equine Hall and Fame and Livestock Hall of Fame beginning at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 16 in the Cattle Show Arena.

Kim Klukas is entering the Equine Hall of Fame. A news release from the fair indicates, "Kim served as president of Owatonna Saddle Club, president of the Waseca FFA, and president of the Southern Minnesota Saddle Club Association for three years...Kim as shown at the Steele County Fair equine show for over 20 years and has received numerous year-end awards on the SEMSCA circuit."

"She is the Vivarium Manager of Hormel Institute for Cancer Research with the University of Minnesota since 2015." The Equine Hall of Fame program is sponsored by Farmer's Feed and Pet Supply.

The Central Farm Service Livestock Hall of Fame induction begins at 2:30 pm in the show arena. Sharon Katzung is the inductee, while Dr. Tony Seykora will receive the service award.

Katzung (1945-2015) promoted the pork industry for more than three decades on the local, state, and national levels. A news release states, "During her lifetime, Katzung served as president of the Minnesota State and Steele County Porkettes and was also the chairwoman of the Minnesota State Pork Queen program."

"In 1990, Katzung received the Outstanding 4H adult leader award. She served on the Steele County Farm Service Agency committee and the Owatonna FFA Scholarship and Awards committee along with serving as the University of Minnesota-Waseca Parents Council secretary/treasurer."

Seykora "was a professor of dairy cattle genetics in the University of Minnesota Department of Animal Sciences for 30 years teaching on both the Waseca and St. Paul campuses. He is well published for his research on genetics of dairy cattle health and fitness...Dr. Seykora coached the University of Minnesota's Collegiate Dairy Judging team for 15 years."
