In August of 2015, Jessie James Decker released "Lights Down Low" as a single. Written by the singer and Alyssa Bonagura, the song was inspired by Decker's relationship with husband Eric Decker. Following her signing with Epic Records, Decker re-released "Lights Down Low" as a single, in June of 2016.

Below, Bonagura tells The Boot how "Lights Down Low" came to be.

So Jessie and I had been friends for about 10 years. We met through MySpace, when MySpace was cool, and I wrote a song for her, for her project, and I sent it to her via MySpace, and I was like, "Hey, I wrote this for you; I hope you like it," and she wrote me right back, and she was like, "Oh my God, I love this song." She’s like, "We have to get together," but I was in England at the time ... and so she was in America, I was in Liverpool, we were MySpace-ing ...

I was back, I think for summer vacation from college, and we ran into each other at Urban Outfitters in Nashville, and she went “Alyssa?” and I went “Jessie?” We’d never met physically, and so that’s how we met and became friends ... We write great songs together; we just have that great chemistry -- two Aries that are just gettin' it done.

And so, she came over, and she had the melody idea and the lyrics, basically, and then we started the track, and we couldn’t finish it that day ... and then so we finished the song over text message, and it was really fun. I love writing with her. We’re really proud of that song, and that song is so her -- like, that’s literally her life to a T, is making pancakes and listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd in the kitchen -- so it's really great.
