Results of a recent Explore Minnesota Lodging Survey show optimism for a strong summer tourism season in Minnesota. 222 lodging businesses, hotels, motels, resorts, campgrounds, bed and breakfast and vacation home rentals in Minnesota took part in the survey.

Breaking the numbers down, 36% said they expect their summer occupancy to be up and 43% predict increased revenue compared to last summer. 18% are expecting occupancy and or revenue to be down. Some of the reasons for optimism given include the number of existing reservations for this season, the good economy along with their own marketing efforts.

The long winter and late start to spring did produce some business challenges. They include 24% of the respondents stating that spring occupancy was up and 29% stated spring revenue was up. However 31% reported spring occupancy and or revenue were down.
