Faribault Police Chief John Sherwin reported Daniel Ryan Torkelson, 52, was airlifted to Rochester. His injuries were described as significant but non-life threatening.
Faribault Police Chief John Sherwin commented, “The Faribault Police Department is committed to an impartial and transparent investigation as we send our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased."
The Council also unanimously approved authorizing a study and imposing a moratorium on the operation of Cannabis Businesses within the City of Faribault.
Darnell Kenshaun Conley, age 24, of Faribault was taken into custody after a traffic stop in the 300 block of 7th Street NW. Police say Conley, "Could face charges of 2nd degree assault with a firearm."
The Faribault Police Chief commented, "I am grateful for the quick action of the citizen who intervened, placing themselves at risk and protecting the store clerks from the assaultive suspect. While we always encourage citizens to act with caution when witnessing a crime of violence, we are incredibly appreciative when individuals go above and beyond in their civic duty."
In his News Release Sherwin states,"Officers and Detectives did an excellent job of recognizing the potential hazards presented to them during this incident and summoning the necessary resources to Faribault."
