The Owatonna girls hockey team recovered from a slow start in their season opener and a 3-0 deficit to beat Faribault 4-3 in overtime at Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.

Owatonna boys hockey had its five-game Big Nine winning streak snapped on Saturday with a 5-1 loss to John Marshall. That probably ends faint hopes for a home playoff game.

The 10th annual Windsor chop dinner was held Saturday night as a fundraiser for the Blue Line Club to benefit the Owatonna High School boys hockey program.

Owatonna lost their season opener to Rochester John Marshall. The No. 7 JM boys topped OHS in Rochester. OHS girls hockey clobbered Century, while the boys beat Winona.

The Owatonna boys won a back-and-forth game 5-4 in overtime at North St. Paul. The OHS girls blanked Winona 5-0. Both teams are home on Tuesday.

The Owatonna High School wrestlers opened up their Big Nine schedule with a win over Mayo on Thursday. Boys basketball won at Mankato West. The hockey teams lost to the Rockets.

Huskies coach Josh Storm told the KRFO coaches show Saturday that he is very pleased with the off-season preparation his team has gone through.

The Owatonna girls' hockey season opened with a 4-1 victory over Mankato East. They play at Albert Lea on Saturday. The Steele County Blades are home Saturday and Sunday.
