If you are a regular user of I-35W in the Twin Cities, as I am, there will be some headaches tonight and Thursday.

MNDOT announced Tuesday, 7 construction grants for 2018. The grants amount to over $18 million dollars. 3 of the projects are in the Twin Cities Metro area.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces that plans are now in place for the demolition of the Steele County Road 31 bridge over I-35 starting Monday night, August 28.

New bridge decks and reinforcement work is scheduled for Steele County Highways 18 and 31 bridges. The Highway 31 bridge is slated to close on Monday, August 14. The bridge will be demoed during the overnight hours of Monday, August 21. This will result in a closing of I-35  from 8PM on August 21 until around 8AM August 22...

As if the headaches of the Lowry Hill Tunnel repairs weren't enough, another traffic headache is coming this weekend. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing Interstate 35W starting at 10PM Friday. Northbound lanes will be closed from the Burnsville split with I-35E to Interstate 494 in Bloomington...

The calendar might say that autumn starts, but road construction season is not over. A project has started on I-35 that could last until October 21.

Be prepared for a slow down here and there if you are traveling over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Any direction, except up, could lead you into road construction zones.
